Presumably the helmet was worn by Germanic auxiliae during the Late Roman period. A Roman coin that was found next to the helmet dates from 319 AD. The helmet shows a lot of Germanic and even Persian influences. It probably was the helmet of a Germanic aristocrat. The helmet is made of brass and is lined with red leather. It is provided with a short neck
